Bad Bunny’s Met Gala 2026 transformation

The Puerto Rican artist appeared unrecognisable on the Met Gala 2026 red carpet, wearing a hyper-realistic ageing transformation that offered a conceptual response to the event’s theme. As images of Bad Bunny in New York attract widespread attention, anticipation is also building for his first performances in Portugal.

At the Met Gala 2026 in New York, the Puerto Rican performer became one of the evening’s most talked-about names after arriving in a look created entirely with highly realistic prosthetics. Wrinkles, detailed skin texture, grey hair and other signs of ageing shaped a transformation that took the red carpet into provocative, conceptual territory.

The prosthetics were made by make-up artist Mike Marino, a specialist in hyper-realistic special effects renowned for his technical precision in film productions and high-profile media events. The idea began with a conversation between Marino and the artist about how time might change his face and body, resulting in a detailed interpretation of the passing years.

The look was finished with a bespoke black suit created in collaboration with Zara, featuring broad proportions and an oversized tie that combined classic tailoring with a contemporary approach. The artist also carried a walking stick and wore a watch, further emphasising ageing as the central narrative of his appearance.

Fashion under discussion

This year’s edition of the event drew inspiration from the “Costume Art” exhibition at the Costume Institute, which considers the human body over time. Its accompanying catalogue highlights how fashion has historically favoured youth, often keeping ageing outside the centre of aesthetic representation.

Bad Bunny’s image therefore takes on an artistic interpretation that reflects this discussion, using ageing as a visual language on one of the most widely watched nights in the international cultural calendar.

The artist has already made audiences accustomed to bold Met Gala concepts, with previous appearances defined by strong visual and symbolic impact. In interviews, he has described the diversity of his audience as a source of inspiration, placing value on the connection between generations.

Bad Bunny’s Portugal debut

While his New York look makes an international impact, excitement is also increasing in Portugal. Promoter Live Nation has released additional tickets for the concerts at Estádio da Luz, scheduled for 26 and 27 May.

The new tickets provide access to the “Los Vecinos” area, positioned behind the stage and offering an experience closer to the production of the show. The initiative forms part of the “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour”, which marks the artist’s debut in Portugal.
