Fashion once again takes centre stage in The Devil Wears Prada 2, the sequel that returns to the world of major luxury houses. Among them is Alameda Turquesa, the Portuguese luxury design brand established by Ana and Carolina Santos more than a decade ago.
Alameda Turquesa in The Devil Wears Prada 2
With the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2-the eagerly anticipated follow-up to the original film, which arrived exactly 20 years ago-fashion is once again at the heart of the story. It also brings back the influence of the major luxury houses that shape one of the world’s most sought-after industries. Amid Hollywood glamour and the exacting standards of haute couture, a Portuguese brand has emerged.
The story began last year, when the film’s production team contacted Alameda Turquesa, the luxury design label founded by Ana and Carolina Santos more than a decade ago. “They selected several of our pieces to be sent over, but even then, nothing was guaranteed. We did not know whether we would appear or how,” the Porto-based brand’s creators told SIC Notícias.
A months-long wait for confirmation
What initially seemed like the start of a dream became months of waiting, with no certainty that the brand would feature in one of Hollywood’s most iconic wardrobes. The answer only came last week, when the film reached cinemas: “Although we had been in contact with the team, we only found out when the film premiered. We went to the cinema and were able to see our pieces in one of the scenes,” says Carolina Santos.
Among the figures who have previously chosen the brand are Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Cindy Crawford, Kelly Rutherford, Olivia Palermo, Amanda Gorman, Irina Shayk, Camila Coelho, Alexandra Saint Mleux, Katy Perry, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, Sofia Vergara, Emma Roberts and Eva Chen.
