Xiaomi Mijia High-speed Water Ion Hair Dryer Pro gains a ToF camera

Xiaomi has begun selling its new Xiaomi Mijia High-speed Water Ion Hair Dryer Pro, an advanced hair dryer designed around gentle drying, temperature management and hair protection during styling. The new model is now available through JD.com. Its recommended retail price is 940 yuan (£105), although an introductory discount brings the price down to 720 yuan (£80).

The device’s key feature is an integrated time-of-flight (ToF) camera, which continuously measures the distance between the dryer nozzle and the hair. Using this information, the system automatically adjusts the airflow temperature to prevent overheating. Xiaomi says this helps maintain a consistently comfortable setting while reducing the likelihood of damage to both the scalp and hair. In this respect, Xiaomi has followed Dyson’s approach.

The manufacturer also highlights a “dual-protection” constant-temperature mode, which adapts the heating level according to how close the hair dryer is to the hair.

The hair dryer features a colour display on its rear panel, while controls consist of buttons and a rotary dial that allow airflow speed and temperature to be adjusted independently. The new model is offered in three colour options and has a power rating of 1,600 W. Several attachments for different styling needs are included in the box. Xiaomi has also supplied a metal stand and a magnetic wall mount with fixing hardware.
