Many people want a fresher-looking face without immediately turning to injections. A pharmacy product is now attracting attention: a specialist skincare gel containing collagen and several forms of hyaluronic acid which, according to its manufacturer, can visibly reduce wrinkles within one minute. But what is behind it, how does the formula work and who might benefit from trying it?

Why wrinkle care is approached differently today

Pressure at work, air pollution and too little sleep can all leave their mark on the face. Skin may look duller, lose firmness and develop more deeply etched expression lines. Although conventional creams provide moisture, they often reach their limits when lines are more pronounced.

This is where modern wrinkle fillers come in. They target specific areas, such as the forehead, crow’s feet or nasolabial folds, combining several active ingredients intended to plump, firm and smooth at the same time. A new example from marine skincare brand Thalgo aims to visually mimic the effects of Botox – without needles or a clinic appointment.

What the new wrinkle filler specifically promises

The product is called “Combleur Rides Minute” and is sold for around €50. Its price is not the only important factor; the structure of the formula matters most. It uses four different hyaluronic acids, supplemented with marine pro-collagen as well as botanical and marine active ingredients.

The combination of different hyaluronic acids, a collagen booster and smoothing active ingredients is intended to produce a visible plumping effect within one minute.

Its texture is described as “silicone-like”: soft and lightweight to the touch, yet it settles into skin indentations like a fine film. This creates the optical soft-focus effect more commonly associated with photo apps.

Four hyaluronic acids – why use so many?

Hyaluronic acid has long been a skincare star. What is particularly interesting here is the combination of different molecular sizes:

  • High-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid: Creates a moisture-retaining film on the skin’s surface and provides an immediate plumping effect.
  • Medium-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid: Penetrates slightly further and helps maintain the moisture balance in the upper layers of skin.
  • Low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid: Can reach deeper layers and may provide longer-lasting fullness there.
  • Hyaluronic acid microspheres: Tiny spheres that “soak up” water and mechanically add volume to wrinkles.

This blend is designed to make not only the surface appear plumper, but also to benefit the middle and deeper layers – at least temporarily.

Collagen boosters and marine active ingredients: what they do

Alongside hyaluronic acid, the wrinkle filler contains marine pro-collagen. Collagen is a structural protein responsible for firmness and elasticity. As we age, the body produces it more slowly, causing skin to lose tone.

Pro-collagen active ingredients are intended to stimulate collagen production or stabilise existing fibres. They are combined with:

  • Marine ferments: Derived from marine micro-organisms, these ferments are thought to support skin regeneration.
  • Alfalfa extract: This plant contains secondary plant compounds that may have a firming effect and refine the skin’s appearance.

The brand clearly positions the product as an anti-ageing specialist designed to target wrinkles and make the face appear younger.

How the 1-minute effect works

The key lies not only in the formulation, but also in how it is applied. The wrinkle filler comes in a slim brush-tipped tube for highly precise dispensing. According to the instructions, application works as follows:

  • Cleanse your face as usual and complete your full skincare routine, including serum, moisturiser and morning SPF.
  • Place the brush tip directly onto the wrinkle concerned, such as a forehead line or smile line.
  • Press a very small amount of product along the line of the wrinkle.
  • Distribute it with light tapping or gentle smoothing until no residue is visible.

After just one minute, the area is said to look smoother. The soft-focus film sits over the line like an optical correction, while the hyaluronic acids bind water to create more volume.

According to the brand, around 95 per cent of test participants reported a plumping effect after just one minute of use.

What do the first tests say?

The available figures come from a small self-assessment involving 21 participants. Almost 90 per cent said their wrinkles looked less visible, while around 80 per cent felt their face appeared younger after 28 days of regular use.

These numbers sound impressive, but should be interpreted carefully: the study is small, relies on subjective perceptions and is not an independent scientific investigation. Even so, it gives consumers an initial indication of the formula’s potential.

Botox alternative – how far does the comparison go?

The product is often described as a gentler alternative to Botox. However, the two approaches work in entirely different ways:

Botox injection Pharmacy wrinkle filler
Injected by a doctor into the muscles Applied externally to the skin
Weakens facial muscles, so wrinkles move less Visually plumps lines while muscles remain active
Usually lasts for several months Works only temporarily and needs regular reapplication
A medical procedure with risks A cosmetic product, with irritation or intolerance as the main risks

Anyone seeking a strongly smoothed, long-lasting result is unlikely to avoid a doctor’s appointment. But for people looking for quick results for everyday life, work or special occasions without having anything injected into their skin, this type of wrinkle filler may be appealing.

Who is the product suitable for – and who is it less suitable for?

The wrinkle filler is primarily aimed at people with early or moderate lines, typically from their mid-thirties onwards. It may be especially useful for:

  • pronounced expression lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows or at the outer corners of the eyes;
  • people who regularly appear on camera or spend time in meetings;
  • anyone wanting to look fresher before events such as weddings or presentations.

It is less suitable for very deep, already etched wrinkles or severely sagging skin. In these cases, the optical soft-focus effect can offer only limited support. Those with sensitive skin should also check the ingredients and, when in doubt, test the product on a small area first.

What to consider with anti-wrinkle skincare generally

A fast-acting wrinkle filler is not a replacement for a solid basic routine. Anyone aiming for smoother-looking skin over the long term cannot avoid a few fundamental principles:

  • Consistent sun protection: UV radiation is one of the biggest drivers of premature wrinkles.
  • Regular moisturising care: Well-hydrated skin looks plumper and reflects light more evenly.
  • Sleep and stress management: Skin regenerates overnight, and long-term stress eventually shows in the mirror.
  • Active skincare: Retinol, peptides and vitamin C can improve the appearance of skin over time.

A product such as Thalgo’s wrinkle filler works well as an addition: it provides an immediate mirror-ready effect, while the rest of the routine addresses the deeper processes.

Risks, side effects and sensible combinations

As with any cosmetic product, irritation can occur, including redness or stinging. Anyone prone to allergies should read ingredient lists carefully and, where possible, try a sample. For very sensitive skin or skin with a compromised barrier, it is advisable to speak with a dermatologist beforehand.

Combining it with other products can also be worthwhile. Used alongside a hydrating serum, the plumping effect may appear stronger because more water is retained in the skin. Anyone using retinol or fruit acids should incorporate the wrinkle filler into the calming part of their routine, after intensive active ingredients, so that the skin is not put under unnecessary strain.

Its appearance in everyday wear is another consideration: beneath make-up, the smoothing texture can work like a primer. It is worth experimenting with the amount used – too much product can make foundation pill, while too little may produce barely any visible effect. Many users report that a rice-grain-sized amount per area is sufficient.

Ultimately, the wrinkle filler remains a beauty tool: not a miracle cure, but a small aid for anyone who wants to look fresher in a short time, whether at the office, on a date or in family photos.
